Lfiber’s singlemode fused-fiber-based full range wavelength independent coupler shows uniform performance across the whole spectrum from 1260 to 1620 nm. An optical fiber coupler, or optical cable splitter/combiner, is a passive optical branching component that divides light into one or more outputs without wavelength selection (all channels go to each output). It’s one of the fundamental components used in the passive optical network.

Full Range Wavelength Independent Coupler

Lfiber has invested a great deal of time and effort in R&D. With the excellent FBT (fused biconic taper) technology, we design and provide high-end fiber couplers for customers all over the world. Lfiber’s optical cable splitter can operate at a single wavelength (e.g. 1310, 1490 or 1550 nm), to be wavelength flat (e.g. insensitive to wavelength variations within a single window, so-called wavelength flattened coupler) or to be wavelength independent (e.g. insensitive to wavelength variations within both the second and third windows, 1260-1360 nm and 1450-1600 nm, or even full bandwidth from 1260 to 1620 nm).

A fiber coupler can be either wavelength independent or wavelength selective. A wavelength independent coupler has the same coupling coefficient over a wide range of wavelengths, while a wavelength selective coupler only works for particular wavelengths. Lfiber provides high-quality full range wavelength independent couplers that feature uniform performances across an ultra wideband of wavelengths from 1260 nm to 1620 nm. The optical characteristics are wavelength independent (insensitive to wavelength variations within the full bandwidth from 1260 to 1620 nm).

Optical Cable Splitter

A fiber coupler with only one input is an optical cable splitter, and the one with only one output is a combiner. Some applications of the fiber coupler include the distribution network of a local area network and subscriber networks, passive optical network (PON) systems, and some other places where a wide range of operating wavelengths are required.
